Our commitment

We operate our hotel business with the ambition of leading the responsible behaviour, creating shared value at an economic, social, and environmental level, wherever we are present. We strive to offer unique experiences to our clients at the hotels, as well as to our employees; to be active in the communities where we live and caring for the environment. This allows us to transmit the ethical and responsible business principles that guide the way we work.

We engage in active and effective dialogue with our stakeholders through multiple channels and formats in order to keep up-to-date of new demands and needs, and better respond to our customers’ concerns and opinions. Satisfaction surveys with customers and employees are constantly conducted, as well as regular meetings and encounters with other stakeholders, including shareholders, suppliers, employee’s representatives, and third-sector agents. Additionally, the presence in the social media is key as a space for dialogue and interaction with customers and society.

The Company is aware of the effects of its activity on the environment, and works to prevent and anticipate possible environmental contingencies, as well as to integrate sustainability in all its processes, striving to reduce its impacts. In view of the ambition to operate in a decarbonised world, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has pledged to cut its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46.2% in 2030 by comparison with 2019 levels and its absolute Scope 3 emissions, derived from purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel and energy related activities, waste from operations, upstream leased assets and franchises by 27.5% over that same timeframe.

The company has also committed to reduce its absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions by 90% in 2050, again compared to the 2019 base level. The Science Based Target initiative, SBTi, has validated the company’s net zero target. Indeed, both targets have been scientifically validated and approved by SBTi,  the world’s main corporate climate action organisation.

With these new targets for 2030 and 2050, the hotel chain is now aligned with the scientific thresholds recommended for businesses in the Paris Agreement in order to keep global warming at no more than 1.5 degrees centigrade relative to pre-industrial levels.

The fact that our new targets have been validated by SBTi is a significant milestone and brings us closer to achieving this shared goal of net zero.
