Alliances and Recognitions

Minor Hotels Europe & Americas promotes strategic alliances and collaboration in sustainability. The Company is aware of the importance of collaboration between institutions in order to comply with the sustainable development agenda. Accordingly, the Company establishes alliances based on common principles, values and goals with different organizations, whether in the public or private sector, at world, regional, national and local level.

Minor Hotels Europe & Americas adhered to the United Nations Global Compact in 2006, following its 10 principles as an internal reference framework for designing the Corporate Responsibility strategy and management. This year the Company also adhered to “Responsible Tourism: A Commitment Shared by All”, an initiative led by the Global Compact and the World Tourism Organization that includes the signing of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism. The purpose of this project is to make progress in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility within Spain’s tourism sector and help businesses within the industry meet their ethical and sustainable development commitments.

These are the awards and recognitions obtained in 2023, which reflect our commitment to continue advancing on this road.

S&P YEARBOOK. For yet another year, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has been recognized as a leading company in the field of sustainability thanks to its publication in the S&P Global 2024 Sustainability Yearbook

BLOOMBERG GENDER EQUALITY 2023. Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has been included for the forth time in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index 2023, being the only Spanish hotel company among the 484 companies included in the index. The Company has obtained its best results in the pillar of equal pay and parity, thanks to its compensation policies based on gender equality and the fight against the wage gap. This has confirmed well-known aspects such as the positive presence of women at all levels of responsibility of the Company.

GENDER EQUALITY AWARDS. Minor Hotels Europe & Americas was a finalist in the Gender Equality Awards from the Equality in Tourism organization. 

FTSE4GOOD. Since 2013, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has been part of the FTSE4GOOD index and renews its presence year after year, thanks to the responsible management of the business and the improvements made. The index was created by the London Stock Exchange to help investors integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their decision making.

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). It recognizes the efforts made by leading global companies in the battle against climate change. In the latest report published in December 2023, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas was given a B grade in its annual Climate Change ranking and, after participating for the first time this year, a B- in Water Security.

The company was also recognized as a “Leader in Supplier Engagement 2023”, for raising the profile of climate action throughout our value chain. In doing so, the company demonstrates it’s in leadership in the supply chain, which is considered a key requirement for the transition to a net-zero future.

BIOSCORE. In 2024 all our owned and leased hotels will obtain the Bioscore rating. The Bioscore certification, in addition to being recognized by the GSTC, is based on the independent evaluation of a hotel for its level of sustainability through a rating based on ESG criteria and aligning the most relevant parameters of the main internationally recognized ecolabels to offer a global and standardized view of the efforts made by hotels in terms of sustainability.
