James Bond, 007, was regularly seen at glamorous events. Pulling up at the doors of a glitzy casino in his silver Aston Martin DB5, playing a hand of high-stakes poker, showing off his impeccable tango moves on the dance floor, before ordering a specifically-made dry martini at the bar as the night took its course, there was always a particular theme.
Yes, it was normally an eye-catching venue for the man with a license to kill, and we know a few event venues where he’d feel rather comfortable. With the release of the new Bond film, No Time to Die, we thought we’d consider some of them…
If there is a place more suited to the MI6 agent than the NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi then we are yet to find it. Attending an event here would allow Bond the prerequisite moments in the day to don his immaculate tuxedo and bow tie, slip into his swimming trunks, and lounge around in his casual wear, while hoping to pick up the scent of an evil plot or an attractive accomplice.
The five-star hotel on the south west coast of Italy sits atop an unspoiled cliff allowing time to clear the head as the under-fire agent takes a moment to ponder how he’ll save the world. The ancient cloisters of the refurbished 13th century monastery provide poignant walks to completely switch off from a hectic life and reflect on the bigger picture. Then there is the unique Infinity Pool to soak those fatigued muscles, and the luxurious rooms with private balconies for any personal entertaining that may want to be undertaken. Truly a venue where there is no time to die.
After sliding down the Millennium Dome, racing off down the Thames on a speedboat, and screeching round the busy streets in a high-speed chase, Mr Bond will calmly step into the nhow London while repositioning his crooked tie. The hotel in one of the English capital’s coolest areas, Shoreditch, fuses punk with royalty and gives a very modern touch to some old-style décor. The disruptive nature of the nhow brand fits perfectly with the man who was the brainchild of Ian Fleming, and he would approve of the building design of architect James Sloane. Colorful rooms spark creativity; gastro spaces excite taste buds; and the abundance of flexible meeting areas allow for targeted negotiation, presentation and cooperation.
Of course, this is a city that is well known to James, and he’d somehow find time in his schedule to check out his favorite parts of it in between meetings with M at headquarters. London can often feel like it is enough.
Whether a bottle of Taittinger or Bollinger champagne, a dream of single malt Macallan 1962, or the famous three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet that combines for a Vesper martini, Bond is often seen with a drink in his hand. In fact, throughout the many movies, 007 had a drink, on average, every 11 minutes. Cocktails of varying levels of complexity clearly appeal to the man, and in his more modern incarnation he’s even taken to avoiding the alcohol content in them.
At the NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade, the spectacular vistas of Portugal’s hilly capital can be enjoyed while sipping down your favorite tipple. The rooftop pool area is as lavish and appealing as James would expect for a venue, and a morning jog along the beach is on hand for an invigorating freshen-up. When at the bar he could choose from a wide variety of stimulating cocktails, nibble on the tasty bites, and interact with the others in attendance. When the sun sets over the horizon, however, the conversations are likely to cease, as the red glow over the rooftops encapsulate the moment. The views here really are to die for.
From poisonous cigarettes, extra-strength magnetic watches and flying jetpacks, to ejector seats, remote controlled cars and smart blood GPS-linked nanoparticles, James is famous for his numerous gadgets. Cutting-edge technology not only proved to be critically useful for the British spy but you can tell that he also really enjoyed the demonstrations from Q, in spite of the wise cracks and condescension.
An event at the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding would provide Bond, or indeed Q, with the high-tech setting where he would feel right at home. He’ll have a slick connection to his wearables on the hotel’s enhanced Wi-Fi service, and that will cover him across the enormous space that could be used for various aspects of the event, as well as back in his stylish room. With the world’s most advanced visual collaboration solutions installed in the meeting areas, James and his other Double Os will be able to come up with creative solutions to whatever plans the bad guys are threatening world stability with. Europe’s largest LED-powered vault would also provide a stunning backdrop as he charms his way to obtaining information, while the personalized screen could be set up for his eyes only.
