Meetings Blog Aug 24, 2018

As one of the primary colors, red is one of the most popular and widely-used colors around the world. Just think of your country’s flag, for example. More likely than not, red can be found within it. It’s also used throughout cultures for different rituals, celebrations, and holidays. For example, in countries like India and China, brides often wear red. During Christmas and Valentine’s Day in Western countries, you’ll find red decorations adorning houses and streets. Given its popularity, you can’t go wrong using red for your next meeting or event!

A powerful color

There’s a reason why it’s common to see politicians and top executives wearing red ties. It’s because red is a sign of power. We associate this color with leadership, strength, courage, and action, making it perfect for a corporate meeting or event. Companies that use red in their logos include: Ferrari, Red Bull, Coca Cola, CNN, Target, Netflix, Santander bank, TIME magazine, Vodafone, H&M, and the list goes on. Keep in mind that red can also symbolize passion and love, danger and alert. Depending on how it’s used, its timing and placement, it’s perfect to highlight crucial messages and stress on what you want your attendees to remember.

Classic look

It’s easy to make a statement with red. It’s bright, eye-catching, and elegant. Red works well with black and white, giving any event a classic look. It is said that every language has a word for the colors black and white, and that the next most common color-word is red. That’s how important this color can be. For a sultry, elegant feel, your event can use darker shades like ruby, mahogany, wine, or berry. For a more classic feel, use bright shades like rose, scarlet, cherry, crimson, or candy apple.  With a bit of red, combined with other colors and materials, you can obtain this touch of elegance and luxury your event demands. Red velvet or red ribbons show the idea of discrete exclusivity.

Feel home

Red is also related to passion and love: it’s a warm color, bringing a strong element of coziness to the atmosphere. As we’re sure you’ll know, red is the main color of Christmas, increasing the popularity and notoriety of it! Taking inspiration from this, combine this much-loved red with other warm colors (brown, dark greens or orange) to make guests feel home. Red bricks, soft carpets, fluffy seats… Create a cozy ambience to make your attendees feel home while they enjoy our Brilliant Basics. But be sure to take samples of the colors you select to the venue of choice before taking further steps. By doing so, you can determine if there could be any potential issues with combinations or color communication in the space.

Or, why not make red your accent color? Just imagine, you’re launching a car that’s a deep red color. Use a large, minimal, white space in which to place the car on a plinth and add one or two more accents of red. For example, a slim line of red that guides attendees from the door to the central piece… Remember, a color can have a powerful impact even in small doses.

Show it with sweets

Talking accents of color, why not add dashes of red throughout the space with arrangements of strawberries, cherries watermelon or more, giving planners the perfect opportunity to utilize a chocolate fountain as part of the magic. Think of the many red sweets available like Swedish fish, peppermint candies, licorice, and jelly beans – use this to your advantage with a red-colored candy buffet or sweets cart. And finally, top it all off with a luxurious red velvet cake. Bring out the fun in food with red!
