Do you know our “Duty of Care” for fire safety?

Risk management is each time more important in the organization of an event or meeting. As a good M&E planner, you manage every detail of your event with the well-being of your guests in mind. Therefore, you must incorporate a reliable partner into your planning – one who has a very clear contingency plan for any situation that may arise.

Before choosing a venue, find out what policies apply in case of emergencies: if they are more or less strict than policies in other spaces and if the professionals who will attend to your guests have truly received practical training to know how to respond correctly in cases of emergency.

To avoid any emergency situation endangering your attendees, we at NH Hotel Group have an exhaustive contingency plan. Discover here under our plan for fire prevention.

Each country has its own laws and the strictest are those of Germany and the Netherlands. For this reason, all of NH Hotel Group adapts to the standards of these two countries.

In all of our hotels we have fire contingency measures that are based on 2 key points:

  • Facilities and technology
  • Staff Training

All of our hotels have a system of sectorization: when a smoke detector is triggered, an alarm goes off informing reception of the incident. Before the hotel response plan is set in motion, the fire doors in this sector are closed automatically. This way, the rest of the hotel is separated from the possible fire.

We have equipped every hotel with fireproof materials: both the furniture as well as all of the upholstery in the rooms (curtains, armchairs …).  Furthermore, as the doors throughout the facilities are fireproof, they prevent the fire from spreading and isolate it from the rest of the hotel for a certain amount of time.

Meanwhile, the staff team is mobilized and in charge of:

  • ascertaining the magnitude and severity of the incident.
  • notifying emergency services and coordinating any need with them.
  • keeping all customers safe, preventing anyone from staying in the “sectorized” area where the alarm sounded and that has subsequently been closed off.
  • check that all escape routes are accessible and, if necessary, clearing any obstacles from the path.

Once a year, to ensure that all hotel employees know the different emergency exits, the staff participates in safety walks. This way we ensure that they’re able to guide our guests at all times, without stress and with total security.

All NH Hotel Group employees are trained to know how to act in an emergency. Depending on the unique requirements of the hotel and its number of employees, ad-hoc training sessions are created to meet specific needs.

In fact, we reinforce these trainings with quarterly meetings during which the hotel team reviews the plan of action in case of fire.

The safety of our customers and our staff is our priority.  For this reason, in addition to the training and constant investment in the most advanced technologies in fire prevention, two drills per year are organized in all hotels of the NH Hotel Group. Again, that’s more than the norm. The drills are not intrusive so they do not affect customers. The purpose of these simulations is to detect errors in the systems and to train employees for real situations. The drill is always adapted to the characteristics of the hotel, number of guests and staff.

We carry out these drills with the help of the firemen and we count on their presence during the pre-drill meeting where the responsibilities of each of our employees are reviewed.

Since all of our hotels are located in the best locations in urban centers, emergency services respond quickly – in most cases, in less than 10 minutes. NH Hotel Group provides all necessary documentation and maps of the hotel, allowing the firemen to analyze the situation quickly, and as experts, to evaluate whether or not to evacuate the hotel. In this way, because the guests and meeting attendees are safe from any danger, they avoid moments of panic and any interference with their activities. Meanwhile, we’re facilitating the work of the firefighters in case an intervention is necessary.

As the person responsible for organizing an event, we know that you have a thousand and one details to worry about when pulling everything together.  We don’t want the safety of your guests to be one of them.

Your guests may only attend one meeting or stay longer for conferences. Whatever your case, NH Hotel Group will always look after your safety.

Have faith in us and organize your next event in one of our hotels. We are your trusted partner!
