Event warmth through wood

WOOD. Arguably the most versatile of our natural resources, we are all surrounded by it daily. Tables, chairs, floors, cabinets, shelving are only the start as you then look deeper and see the book collection, jewelry and picture frames. All of which can be custom made and a particular shade or type selected: chestnut, oak, beech, mahogany, pine…the list goes on. As well as the handsome look it can give any setting, it can also prove itself to be the practical choice when structural weight and budget are taken into account.
When it comes to events, planners can light them up – literally when you consider a glowing bonfire at an outdoor Christmas party – with the introduction of wood. The aesthetic appeal of wooden furniture is unmistakable, giving a sense of warmth and often an impression of sophistication. A simple, but effective, example is that of conference buffet tables laden with wooden utensils. Consider a spotless white linen tablecloth with multi-toned cherry wood salad bowls and large serving cutlery, adding a reminder of nature and all that is healthy eating.
Then you have wooden decorative options. Clearly the more linked to the event the better – with an alternative view always imaginable – but where musical instruments like violins, cellos and maybe even a grand piano can be included, the style level is raised a notch. Classic wooden toys can also intrigue your guests in a world so influenced by high tech. Artwork, whether in the form of paintings, carvings or sculptures could also be used to great effect. You could even consider having a carver showing off his talent as a way to help attendees engage.
NH Hotel Group has embraced the material at our many venues. From the steam luxury within our Viennese ceder-lined saunas to our spacious 650m2 Berlin roof terrace, we look for the best opportunities to use wood to fulfill its potential. If you feel that wood is the right choice for your next event, speak to your venue and work on making the impact you desire.
