For those athletes that end up representing their country at the Olympic Games, there is no doubt whatsoever that drive and dedication are major reason for them reaching the top. Whether it be a rigid diet, meticulously counting every gram of protein and carbohydrate that enter their bodies or ensuring that a satisfactory sleep routine is achieved each day, no matter what else is on, that focus is required.

If, therefore, dedication is seen as the key factor for those that are going to take their place in the history books, then it makes sense that it could well be important for someone looking to plan a world-class event. Of course, it’s not the only quality that is required. Networking, organization, project management, flexibility and creativity are all rather handy attributes to have. But dedication to the cause is the glue that sticks all that together.

During the scoping, planning and delivery phases do you find yourself saying things like ‘of course’, ‘absolutely’, and ‘sure thing’? If so, then it’s unlikely that any of those you come into contact with have doubts about your dedication and commitment. With that type of positive messaging, and the actions that must go hand in hand with it, you are immediately killing off any nervousness that they have about the day running smoothly.

Your dedication to your clients and attendees must be clear from the start and all the way through to the end. This can be shown by doing everything you can to understand then help fulfill their needs and objectives, ensuring you are attentive to all the essential details.

Every event planner knows the time and energy that is required to bring success, and for that reason throwing yourself into the role, with passion and gusto, is the only way. That level of dedication can sometimes have planners referring to their big event as their ‘baby’ and, as every parent would testify, seeing it develop and mature is the ultimate reward.
