The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, excellently located right near the centre of Sintra with stunning views of the surrounding hills. The breakfast was wonderful, although pricey, but there was so much to choose from and all delicious. But the customer service was absolutely exceptional. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, an absolute delight.
We stayed at this hotel because we had a rental car and the parking situation in the historic centre was very confusing. this hotel offered parking. However, the instructions from the hotel about how to find the hotel were not very clear. The hotel is located in a restricted area for cars. The hotel is old and tired. It needs a design upgrade.
The hotel is clean and nice and the location is great too; as long as you are young and also physically able with no mobility problems. My husband has physical limitation and can walk on his own with the help of a crutch, I reached out to the hotel ahead of time to request special accommodations, so the hotels was aware of our situation, yet they failed to let me know the only way to reach the hotel would be hiring an official registered taxi. We hired an Uber and the Uber dropped us off as close as he could, which was down the hill. We had to climb a very steep hill, about 400 mts up with our luggage. At check-in, everyone knew only official taxis could access the hotel and also (according to them) other services could had dropped us off a couple of blocks closer on the flat area atop the hill. However, to access the flat area where the hotel is located, it would take another half an hour to an hour to fight through traffic on the chaotic loop to get into the historic center. So that alternative is not realistic either.While they show sympathy for our predicament, they did not offer anything for our trouble.
