There are numerous renowned orchestras in the city, and concerts in Hamburg take place daily. All classical music lovers should head to the Laeiszhalle for a unique experience from the city’s top performers. This venue is also the main concert venue of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Hamburg's Alternative Scene

In Hamburg you will find an influence of many cultures and ideas. At Haus III & 70, visitors will find three separate venue spaces, each measuring 70 square meters (hence the unique name). The first hall is for concerts in Hamburg and fills up regularly; the Outbuilding has games like soccer, and it is a great space to meet friends for a chat. The third hall hosts regular dance and theatre performances with a varied programme. In each of the three venues, you will find something different, but all are enjoyable. With its small indoor kiosk with snacks to sample, it’s a top place to see.

Barclaycard Arena, Hamburg

This multi-purpose arena is also used for concerts in Hamburg. Since its opening in 2002, it comfortably seats up to 16,000 people. Find it by heading to Altona Volkspark, beside the well-known football stadium Volksparkstadion. Although The Barclaycard Arena is usually used for sports shows, there is an impressive list of international celebrities who have performed here. This includes performers such as Sting, the eccentric Lady Gaga, and pop star Katy Perry.

Concerts in the Park in Hamburg

Also known as Europe’s green capital, you can come to this park to see why Hamburg has that nickname. The park has a number of playgrounds and a summer skating arena, which turns into an ice-skating arena from November until March 15. You can also watch something special if you visit in the summer months between May and August: the half-hour long Water Light Concert and Fountain Show is a spectacle of light, water and music which captivates visitors on long summer evenings.

Schlager Move Dance Parade

At the annual Schlager Move festival parade, each July visitors can dance through the streets of St. Pauli to cheesy 1970s German pop music (aka 'Schlager'). A thoroughly German cultural experience complete with costumes and retro dance moves, the Move parade is a unique way to see the city and its inhabitants at their wildest.

Christmas Concerts in Hamburg

If you come in December, be sure to enjoy Hamburg’s world famous Christmas markets, where you can purchase all kinds of German trinkets, sample good food in the stalls and drink hot mulled wine. But don’t forget that this is also one of the best times to catch a Christmas musical or a Christmas concert in Hamburg.
