Day 1 Itinerary: Visiting London's iconic landmarks
Morning at the Tower of London and Tower Bridge
Start your day by exploring the Tower of London, a royal castle with more than 1,000 years of history in the borough of Tower Hamlets. There you can see the Crown Jewels and learn about the history of the city and the UK. Tickets price is £30 and you can visit it from 9:00am to 5.30pm. You have the option to take either the District or Circle tube lines until you reach Tower Hill station. But for enjoying the landscapes, we recommend taking any of the following bus lines: 15, 254, 343, N15, and 734 to the Tower of London stop (Stop TB).
Another nearby attraction you should visit is Tower Bridge, which is an 8-minute walk from the castle. The bridge that joins the banks of the River Thames is accessible for free crossing, but its towers hold the Tower Bridge Exhibition. This exhibition costs from £14.30, and you can visit it daily from 9.30am to 6:00pm.
Afternoon to explore the South Bank and Tate Modern with Lunch at Borough Market
Whether you're visiting London for a weekend or not, strolling through the South Bank is a great way to enjoy the city. There, you will find several renowned attractions such as the London Eye, Shakespeare's Globe Theater or the London Aquarium, among others. As well, you can find galleries, restaurants and many recreational activities. To get there, you can take the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern, and Waterloo & City tube lines to Waterloo station. Or take the RV1, 45, 63 100, 381 and 344 bus lines.
Your walk will take you to discover the Tate Modern museum, one of the top things to do in London. It’s open every day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and is located in a former power station with international art from 1900 to the present day. So get ready to see the most exclusive works of Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí, among others. But remember, it’s recommended to be prepared to walk around it for 3 to 4 hours.
However, that walking will surely make you hungry, so get a delicious lunch at the famous Borough Market. One of the oldest markets in London where you will find food from every corner of the world, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
An evening with dinner in Covent Garden
After an exciting day exploring the South Bank and Tate Modern, it's time to head to another spot for a lovely evening. To do so, take the Piccadilly subway line to Covent Garden station.
There you'll find shops, restaurants, street performers, malls, and more. Ready to satisfy any taste, whether it's Indian food, vegetarian, or British classics, there's a wide range of options in the best local atmosphere.
