When in Rome, shop like the Romans

Whether souvenir shopping or looking for the latest trendy outfit to take home with you, the Roman neighborhood of Prati gives you it all, from famous brand names to local designer boutiques.

The NH Concierge’s Tips

Italy is world renowned for its style and class and where better to get a true feel for its fashion than in its capital. Rome may be home to some of the most iconic statues and buildings on the globe but it also boasts a healthy shopping scene. Let me share with you some of what’s on offer near our hotel.

Shopping elegance on your doorstep

To start with, we have the delightful Via Cola di Rienzo, just a few meters from the NH Collection Roma Giustiniano hotel. As you wander along this grand street you’ll immediately recognize many household names that cater for all the family’s fashion needs. Splitting the city’s commercial district of Prati, it offers a selection of international brands alongside top Italian labels and lesser-known local designer boutiques. If fun, avant-garde style is your thing then pop into Abitart where local girl Vanessa Foglia gives her personal take on fashion.

It’s also definitely worth exploring the little streets that run across, and parallel to, the main thoroughfare. Here you’ll discover the hidden gems of creative artists showing their new styles, meaning you can walk away with a unique look. Even just some window-shopping in this area can pleasantly fill any free time you may have.

Mall heaven in central Rome

As you join Via Cola di Rienzo from the hotel, keep an eye out for Coin Excelsior, probably the closest thing that Rome can claim to be a shopping mall. Spread across its three floors you have choices galore ranging from homeware to make-up, perfume and accessories. You’ll be suitably tempted by top-end fashion labels and shoes to please even the most discerning buyer. As well as this there’s a gourmet supermarket and Nespresso stop when a recharge of those shopping batteries is required.

Souvenir hunters delight

With Piazza del Popolo at one end and Vatican City at the other your walk will encompass all types of purchasing options. If souvenirs are required, the approach to the small state central to the Roman Catholic Church is home to various shops with items often of a religious nature but could be the ideal memento of your tour around the famous buildings and monuments. It could be a print of Michelangelo’s magnificent ceiling in the Sistine Chapel or possibly a miniature replica of St Peter’s Basilica. Whatever real-life experience you have had at the main landmarks of the eternal city it can almost certainly be bought as a memory.

However you define your shopping heaven, the Roman streets around our NH Collection Roma Giustiniano hotel should satisfy you, whether visiting for just a day or for a full fortnight. And, of course, if you have any specific requests, just ask us during your stay and we’ll be delighted to point you in the right direction.
