Shopping in Rome is Walking a Lap of Luxury

With its iconic monuments and ruins, Rome may seem like a city more ancient than modern. In fact, there are many shopping districts throughout the city where Rome's cutting-edge fashion is on display

The NH Housekeeper’s Tips

Via del Corso

This road, famous for being the only wide, straight road in the area, has also become known for the many shops it hosts. With high-street clothing stores, such as H&M and Zara, to exclusive boutiques, visitors are sure to find whatever they are looking for. Several cosmetics shops are also located on the Via del Corso, including Sephora, KIKO Milano, and Lush Italia.
Another notable resident of the Via del Corso is the flagship store of the luxury Italian car company, Ferrari. Pop in to get closer look at this icon of Italian motoring.
Because of its wide array of shops, the Via del Corso is popular with both locals and holidaymakers. It is easily accessible by taking line A of the city metro and alighting at Flaminio.

Via del Babuino

Close to the Via del Corso there is another shopping area, the Via del Babuino. Shoppers looking for high-end clothing brands such as Tory Burch, Armani, and Canali will find plenty here to keep them happy. The Via del Babuino is also home to the famous jewellers, Tiffany & Co.
Note that the Via del Babuino offers more than just fashion. For lovely scented products, like perfumes, candles, and more, visit the Jo Malone boutique on this road. Another well-known shop is the Fabriano Boutique, where you will find all manner of stationery products.

Shopping Near the Spanish Steps

There are some shopping districts of Rome in close proximity to several of the city's most famous monuments, making it easy for visitors to sightsee and shop all at once. The Via Borgognona, located close to the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon, is one such area. Because of its prime location and its pedestrian-friendly layout, the Via Borgognona is one of the most popular shopping streets in the city. A whole host of luxury and designer fashion brands can be found here, including Gucci, Stella McCartney, Fendi, and Dolce & Gabbana.
The Via Condotti is another place where fashion aficionados can find great designer clothing. Dior, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo are just a few of the many upmarket brands with outposts on this road. What's more, the Via Condotti is home to the famous Antico Caffè Greco, the oldest bar in Rome, a great place for taking a break during a busy day of shopping.
To reach these shopping districts in Rome, take line A on the metro and alight at Spagna.

Shopping for Food

Aside from the many clothing stores, there are shopping districts in Rome with wonderful food markets. Several such markets can be found on Via Cola di Rienzo. Franchi, a gourmet grocer located on this road, offers high-quality cheeses and other Italian fare. They can even vacuum-seal your purchases to ensure the freshness of the food.
Close to Franchi is Castroni, another shop that offers Italian staples like wine and olive oil, in addition to a wide selection of international foods and coffees. For fresh produce, visit the nearby Coin department store. Not only is the lower-ground floor a supermarket, but in keeping with tradition, in the mornings it hosts a fruit and vegetable market. Rome is a city full of culinary delights and you will likely want to take some of these home with you.

Outlets and Shopping Tours

Some visitors may find navigating the bustling shopping districts a little overwhelming. For these shoppers, the ideal solution is outlet shopping in Rome. The Castel Romano Designer Outlet encompasses 140 shops, many of which sell high-end labels like Valentino and Roberto Cavalli at great discounts. Best of all, this outlet offers a low-cost shuttle bus service from the Termini Railway Station in Rome to their location.
Rome shopping tours are another great way to take in the many shops of Rome without having to worry about finding your way around the city. There are many companies that offer guided shopping tours through the city, including along Via Veneto, a road famous for being the setting of the 1960 Fellini film, La Dolce Vita.

If you are a traveller and shopaholic too you should consider other fashion destinations as well around Europe such as Amsterdam, Madrid or Berlin.
