What is the best way to explore Rome?

Rome has a very accessible public transportation system. It includes the Metro, which features three lines and stops near the city’s main attractions, as well as buses. It is also very rewarding to explore Rome by foot, due to the pleasant weather through most of the year and the myriad wonderful sights.

If you choose to drive during your time in Rome, keep in mind that the traffic may be congested during peak hours. Rome has a lot of narrow streets and twist and turns so be sure to use your navigator (which often comes with rental cars).
