Opting for public transport is one of the easiest ways to keep costs down on your budget vacation. With stops located close to all the main tourist attractions, and only 3 lines to navigate, Rome’s “Metropolitana” subway is perhaps the most convenient and affordable way to get around the city, though Rome’s buses also cover all the main districts and conveniently, run until 5:30am. For a more tourist-oriented option, another way to see the city is on a hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus, which will allow you to fully appreciate the sights while you get around the city.
