The Berlin Victory Column

The Victory Column stands at a mighty 67 metres, increased further by the 8.3 metre tall bronze statue of Victoria.
Visitors to the Victory Column can ascend its 285 steps to reach the viewing platform at the top. From here, outstanding views of surrounding Tiergarten can be enjoyed. Note that entrance is €2.50 or €1.50 for concessions. Present your ticket at Café Victoria by the column for a discount on drinks.
Access is via one of four tunnels, framed by neo-classical style entrance points. The nearest stations are S-Bahn Tiergarten and S-Bahn Bellevue, although U-Bahn Hansaplatz is also close by. Set aside at least half an hour for a visit, allowing ample time to take in the wonderful views.

Tiergarten and Berlin Zoo

The Victory Column is located in Tiergarten, a 520 acre park which is full of beautiful flowers, open green spaces, lakes and charming cafés.
In the south westerly corner of Tiergarten and a short walk from the Victory Column is the Berlin Zoo. One of the largest in Germany, it houses an expansive variety of animals, including pandas, giraffes, elephants, seals, zebras, lions and a lot more. The adjacent aquarium is also worth a visit, with its fish, reptiles, amphibians and sharks. Entrance to the zoo is €13 for adults and €6.50 for children up to the age of 15. Combined entrance to the zoo and aquarium is €20 for adults and €10 euros for children. Family tickets are also available.
