Green Week has been an important date in the Berlin calendar since 1926, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city each year. The huge event takes place every January at the Berlin ExpoCenter in the southeast of the city. The venue is transformed into a beehive of activity, with more than two dozen exhibition halls housing around 1500 industry leaders and pioneers. The latest products and services in the worlds of food, agriculture and horticulture are showcased here, covering the farming, processing and marketing aspects of the industry. The event is open to trade professionals as well as the general public. Tickets can be purchased online and are available for individual days or in inexpensive 'happy hour' deals as well as passes for the entire event. Each year, the fair is accompanied by protests and demonstrations that demand a stop to intensive farming and the unethical treatment of livestock, while promoting and raising awareness of more sustainable and ecological farming methods.

On the contrary, this exciting showcase exhibits the best and the cutting edge of the travel industry and visitors to the ITB should expect to walk away with a healthy dose of inspiration and a renewed interest in exploring the globe. 10,000 exhibitors will be there showcasing their work to nearly 200,000 visitors during the multi-day event, which takes place each March. Fresh ideas at Fruit Logistica

Fruit Logistica is one of the top fairs in Berlin, a significant international trade show at the forefront of the fresh produce and fruit trades. The event takes place each February and more than 2500 companies come together to exhibit forward-thinking methods that will propel the fresh produce industry into the future. With fresh food always a hot topic, visitors can expect to hear some creative, game-changing ideas from the most established and innovative food companies. There’s also an annual Fruit Logistica Innovation Award which is given to the most futuristic and impressive product. Around 70,000 visitors attend the event. Tickets are available at the door, although they are usually significantly cheaper if bought online in advance.

The latest and coolest appliances at the top Berlin fairs

The Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (or IFA) showcases the latest electronic products and concepts during an annual event held each September. The IFA has the distinction of being Germany’s oldest trade show, dating back to 1924. Today it is bigger than ever, with some 250,000 visitors and more than 1600 exhibitors travelling to Berlin’s ExpoCenter to see the latest technological advancements. It’s big business, with billions of euros' worth of orders taken during the week-long event. Visitors might just catch a glimpse of the future – it was here that Philips introduced the first cassette recorder and also where Manfred von Ardenne gave the first demonstration of the television system.
