From Roman times to contemporary history
Each of the 40 points of interest in the comic book route in Brussels features a different character and is a unique way to celebrate the city's comic tradition with these interesting and fun stories. The route doesn't have a fixed beginning or ending point, allowing visitors to pick and choose which wall paintings to see.
Whether or not you are a comic fan, you may unexpectedly encounter these colourful art surprises while exploring the city. As an example, very close to the famous statue of the Manneken Pis, is the wall mural of Tintin, the boy journalist created by Hergé in 1929. Other famous comic characters that have their own wall mural in Brussels are Asterix and Obelix, the gaul villagers from 50 BC who fight the Roman invaders with the help of a magic potion that gives them superhuman strength.
