How’s the weather in Bangkok?

Bangkok and Thailand in general are famous for their tropical weather. This type of weather is warm year-round giving a feeling of a living in a continuous summer.

Another typical feature of this type of weather is that it rains a lot meaning which means it is very humid all year round. This combination of heat and humidity helps vegetation to grow, which is why Bangkok is full of jungles and forests.

Before coming to Bangkok, you should take note of the three types of seasons there are and booking when it suits you better. These three seasons are:

Warm season (From March to June) – In the warm or hot season temperatures rise to 40º with occasional storms making it very humid.

If you are travelling in this time of the year, we recommend bringing lightweight and summer clothes and staying well hydrated.

Rainy season (From July to October) – A very unpredictable weather season, it can be very sunny one minute and the pouring rain the next.

If you are traveling at this time of the year, we recommend bringing lightweight and summer clothes but also carrying a raincoat and selecting a good hotel in Bangkok with lots of services in case it rains through the day.

Cooler season (December to February) – Generally considered by visitors the best season to come to Bangkok. The weather in this part of the year is still warm and humid but not as hot as in the months from March to October.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand is a huge city so it’s important to know how to get around. The different ways of getting around our NH Bangkok Sukhumvit Boulevard are:

By Metro/subway – Bangkok’s metro system has one line that will help you move around the city without worrying about traffic. Ticket prices start at 17 Thai Baht.

By Taxi – In Bangkok, taxi fares are very affordable compared to other cities around the world. This option is also very comfortable but, on the other hand, you might have to deal with traffic. It’s important to tell the taxi driver to reset the taximeter to 0 once you enter the car. You can also negotiate the ride before he starts driving.

Tuk-Tuk – In the same price range than taking a taxi but a different and fun experience. You will probably have to negotiate the price of the ride before the driver stars driving.

Boat – It is possible to travel up Bangkok’s River by getting on a Hop on Hop Off boat which works just like a bus or taking the express boat.

However, we advise you to carry small bills and coins, as you will need to negotiate the price before hiring some services such as taxis, scooters, tuk-tuk, etc… If you are tired of negotiating a suitable price with drivers, we recommend using Grab, a system very similar to Uber or Cabify where you will know the price of the trip before requesting the vehicle.

These are the recommended ways to get around Bangkok to make the most of your time and money in the best way possible. If you have any doubts, you can ask at our hotel in Bangkok, and we will advise you on the best way to reach your destination.
